Remember the 6th grade class that I absolutely loved? Well, the love is all gone. There really isn't even an ounce of love left.
Those kids are SOOOO naughty I can't even believe it. Their teacher has a lot going on in her life right now, so they basically have no routines and no rules. When I came in Thursday afternoon their teacher told them, "You guys can either read a book or talk to each other while I talk to Ms. W." What?!?? So within 29 seconds, chaos erupts. Kids are literally running full speed around the room chasing each other, screaming, and picking fights with eachother. I was amazed. She did nothing to stop them. I am a little bit of a control Nazi. I like things orderly, I like rules and consequences, and I like productive children. Today though, I hit a wall. 5 kids were sent to the principals office for either swearing, fighting, or talking back to me. Very few kids actually did much work, and I can only think of 3 kids who were actually respectful. The last 20 minutes of the day I had to stop what we were doing because no one would sit and LISTEN (apparently that is a crazy concept), and I had to implement drawing or quiet reading time. I actually said "If you don't sit quietly and either draw or read, my head will explode, and I will never come back here." Everyone drew pictures, it was a lovely, non productive 20 minutes. My head didn't explode, so that made me happy. But I do have the worst headache EVER, and I've had it since 10 this morning. At the end of the day, I vowed to take a break from that class....until I found out their teacher's mom is very sick and probably won't make it past Christmas.
So, I most likely will be offered the sub job while she takes a leave of absence. That might start as early at Tuesday and go through December 20th. I'm really not sure I will be able to survive that long with those naughty kids. It doesn't even sound fun, or appealing, which makes me sad. But I need the money, so I'll probably take it.
Thank goodness it's Friday.

LOL, I can't believe you told them your head would explode! You are too funny. Too bad the class is so out of control becuase I am sure a sub job that is more than one day is nice. Maybe if they see you several days in a row they will realize you mean business and they will be good... maybe!
oh buddy, that sounds really rough! I hope it has gotten better the last few days--you've got the long term job now, right?
