Our Second Performance

Thanks to Alicia's beautiful digital camera, we finally have a picture of us in our belly dancing costumes!! They are really lame costumes actually, and I hate the skirt, but considering the amount of women we have in our class, it was the easiest way to go.

Tonight was a lot of fun if you exclude the waiting around for and hour and a half before we got to spot our performance on stage, the extreme embarrassing screw-ups I made during our quick rehearsal, and then the waiting around after rehearsal for the show to start. For the 3-4 minutes we were on stage though I had a fabulous time! I LOVE being on stage and performing!

I feel like our performance went pretty well, but I really have no proof since Alicia and I didn't force Dan and Andy to come watch us this time. The stage was truly the tiniest thing I had ever seen, which caused a few problems. We decided at the last minute we would need to stagger the rows so we would have enough space to dance, but we were still majorly scrunched together! Clearly no one in the front made an effort to be staggered at all except for Alicia and I. I'm sure it looked like we really had no formation at all, but oh well. Aside from that and missing the first few counts of our drum solo, I think everything else went real well. I didn't have any major screw-ups during the performance (thank God I got those all out during rehearsal), my boobs didn't come flailing out of my shirt, and I even managed to smile 95% of the time!

I really wish my heart was totally in belly dancing right now, but it isn't. After our last performance I was so into it and excited to continue classes, but this past month and a half I only made it to one class. Thankfully we have a little break during December. I'm hoping the time away from dancing will make me appreciate it more.

I don't think I'll ever become the amazingly talented belly dancer thatI used to envision myself becoming, but I think when all is said and done, I will have appreciated the experience and I will be able to tell people that I know how to belly dance...which I guess is a pretty unique talent :)
