I was completely unprepared for the wedding Andy and I went to on Saturday. I knew the reception was going to be on a farm, but I had no idea what I was really getting myself into.
This was the first fall wedding I have been to, so I was anxious to see the bridesmaids dresses and all of the flowers and decorations. The church was decorated beautifully with the most gorgeous fall colors, but the bridesmaids dresses were terrible. They were black, which totally didn’t go with the pretty fall flowers, and actually they weren’t even dresses at all…they were weird tops with big flowy pants. Disgusting.
The wedding only lasted 40 minutes which was very nice, leaving 2 and a half hours until the reception though, which was not so nice. Andy and I ended up heading over to the reception anyway because we had nothing else to do. I knew we were headed to a farm, but Andy assured me we would be in a “building” not a tent like I had been thinking. Wrong. The reception was in a tent and I was miserable. It was a cold day so I was freezing in my little dress and my silver sparkely stilettos were digging into the ground like tent stakes with every step I took. Andy and I were sitting there for about 2 hours alone, until people finally started to arrive. They had an open bar which was nice so at least Andy and I could drink for free, but I refused to drink very much because there we no bathrooms….only porta-potties!!! I couldn’t believe it. What bride decides porta-potties would make a lovely addition to their wedding?!?! Cow poo and out-houses…how romantic…
To make a log story short Andy and I ended up leaving the reception without even eating because the buffet line was insanely long. The wedding party ate a little after 6 and by 7:30 people were still in line! It was seriously ridiculous….this was truly the worst wedding I’ve ever been to.
I was so grumpy. I didn’t want to be at the wedding at all, especially because Andy rarely talks to this guy anymore. They played college football together and since then haven’t seen each other. I guess I would have been much happier if Andy had at least asked some questions about the reception so I would have known what to wear! Most people wore jeans to the reception so I was obviously very overdressed. I mean had I known I could have worn overalls I would borrowed Alicia's from freshman year and maybe even her NSYNC shirt. I would have fit right in! ;) I was also irritated at the wedding party…after the church they went directly to the bars for 2 hours leaving their guests to sit and wait for them. I thought this was an incredibly rude move.
Needless to say I got no good ideas from this wedding. We’ve got 2 more weddings coming up though, and I’m thinking they can only get better.

That sounds like quite the wedding... big billowy pants on the bridesmaids? Well that's just disgusting!
I am so excited for the time when Andy gets his ass in gear with that whole "asking you to marry him" thing and you can really get started on wedding planning. You'll have the most beautiful classy wedding buddy, I know it.
One of the weddings I went to this weekend, the bridesmaids had the most beautiful dresses. Well- color anyway. They were brown. It was so classy.
I hate when the span between the wedding and the reception seems like eternity- think about the people from out of town- what are they going to do. And the people from the area- what a complete waste of a whole day!
They should have at least provided you with some corn on the cob and beans to snack on while you waited!
