My Weekend

My Friday excursion to Duluth turned out to be quite hilarious, in a not so funny kind of way. Andy's supposed 30 minute interview turned into a 6 hour event. Yes, 6 hours. Fabulous for me huh?! I had NO idea what I was going to do! It was incredibly foggy out, so I didn't want to venture too far into the city for fear of getting totally lost...so I drove around for 2 hours on back roads hoping to run into a Target, movie theater, mall...anything! No such luck. Fortunately I found an Erbert and Gerberts so I was able to have lunch before returning to the news stations parking lot. Thank goodness I brought a good book with me, The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, I ended up reading it for 3 hours straight, in the blistering heat, in a sweatsuit. Not the most pleasant conditions, but it wasn't terrible I guess. I felt so bad for Andy though, he was on 4 hours of sleep (he had to close the bar the night before and didn't get home until after 5 am) and he had only eaten a bowl of cereal for breakfast since we had planned on going out to lunch after his interview! So needless to say Andy emerged from his interview exhausted and starving, so we hit up McDonald's and then I ended up driving all the way home while Andy slept. We left for Duluth at 10 in the morning and did not get home that night until 9:30....such a long day!! Unbelievable. If Andy doesn't get this job it will go down in history as my biggest waste of a day ever!!

Yesterday ended up being a much better day! I worked for 3 hours in the morning then I met Alicia, Kate, and Angela for lunch at Chilis! I rarely get to see my friends anymore...it's actually quite depressing how little we see each other, but lunch was fabulous, I had a great time! Later on in the evening Andy and I went out to dinner at O'Malley's Pub in Woodbury, which by the way, was a huge disappointment. The food selection was terrible and everything was ridiculously overpriced. Oh well...at least we tried it. After dinner we headed over to Andy's friend's apartment across the street to hang out and drink. I was very proud of myself for actually going. Socializing with people I don't know is probably one of my biggest fears and consequently, something I am terrible at doing. It's certainly number one on my list of things I suck at...with volleyball and mini golf rounding out the top three. The only reason I really went over there was because I know it bothers Andy that I am not as social as he is. He will talk to anyone or anything...rocks, birds, dogs....where I on the other hand, didn't even go to Thanksgiving at his family's house last year because the thought of having to talk to everyone was too overwhelming. Yeah I know, ridiculous. I actually did very little socializing last night, but I hung out and drank, which is better than nothing. All in all it was a nice night, much better than staying home and watching tv like I had planned!

Today is dedicated to cleaning, laundry, and scrapbooking. Oh, and of course watching my favorite Sunday night shows Celebrity Fit Club and Surreal Life. I am thrilled that I have absolutely no commitments this entire week, well except for taking my Grandpa to the doctor on Thursday, but other than that I can do whatever I want! I'm going to enjoy my week of nothingness and try to pretend that I never wanted a job in the first place so I'm not so bummed about probably having to sub this year.

Andy should hear about his job in a week to 10 days...keep your fingers crossed for him!
