"Ms. W, you're a hottie."

This is what I was told by a bunch of second graders last week. I do not try to look hot at work for this very reason. What do you say when small children call you a "hottie"?! "Thanks?" or "Actually I peaked in college, you should have seen me then." or "Currently I'm carrying around 10 extra pounds and I'm approaching monster status, so thanks...you made my day." or "Ahhh...what...??." Obviously, I said the latter and quickly changed the subject. Why in the world are second graders using the word hottie? It is quite disturbing.

Thankfully, I don't have to deal with anymore "hottie" comments because I'm done subbing! I thought I'd be suuuuper excited, but I'm slightly sad. As much as I hated getting up and going into different classrooms each morning, I loved working with so many kids. For the most part, they were adorable and so sweet. I've recieved soo many pictures this year from kids...which I absolutely love :) I have saved everything because they are too precious to throw away. When I'm having a bad day, or just hating my job in general, looking at them reminds me why I'm doing what I'm doing.

Back: "Dear Teacher I really like you. Love Paige"

This one is from student teaching (I save EVERYTHING!) But reading it always makes me smile.

I hope to God I get a teaching job next year, because I couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Ahhh... they're so sweet! I'm jealous, no one at my work draws me pictures and tells me how much they love me. I went into the wrong line of work. ;)

I think you should respond to "you are a hottie" with "can I get your phone number". That is the appropriate thing to do, you don't want to hurt the little guys ego at that young of an age! Hehehe. The drawings are very cute, if I make you one will you post it on here too. Just kidding they are so cute, little kids are the best! And then they turn into teenagers and it is all down hill from there!

I am glad you are still excited about your chosen career. Kids are really adorable. Don't worry Alicia- Soon Mandy and I will have kids to draw for you- but doesn't Dan have eleventybillion siblings? I am sure if you asked, one of them they would be glad to draw you a special little something.
